If Your Are Not an Entrepreneur Yet, Why You Should Be One

Written on May 8, 2013 at 4:00 am, by

Being an entrepreneur is a lot like being a Green Beret.  I know some will take offense to that, but I believe it.  You have to fight for what you want in your life.  If not, you might as well lay down and give up right now.  If you haven’t downloaded my manifesto, you can get it here. I believe that you have to fight for a piece of the American Dream and really the only way it get it is to have a or multiple side business to get it going.  We always kept our options open in Special Forces. To pin ourselves down to one course of action could be fatal.  While you may not immediately think of

Ask the Right Questions and Get Er Done

Written on May 1, 2013 at 4:00 am, by

Let’s say you want to know something.  You have to ask the right type of question to get the answer you want.  Do you want strictly the facts?  Do you want someone’s opinion?  Do you want an answer that takes some thought?   You need to pay attention both to what type of question you are asking and what sort of answer you are providing when answering other people. When you ask questions from other people, you need to know what kind of answers you are getting. Questions of fact—Questions with one correct answer are questions of fact. Stop Procrastinating and Get Er Done

Written on April 10, 2013 at 3:00 am, by

It is Saturday morning and I get up usually at around 7:00am.  This is late for me.  During the week, I hit the floor at 4:00am to get in a workout and everything else that has to be done.  You can guess that on Saturdays, I am quite willing to stay in bed longer.  It is hard to push myself out of bed when there isn’t a strict deadline. …But I have a schedule that I want to keep to. I still workout on Saturdays and on Saturday is when I do my main blog writing. Now you may not guess it, but it can be hard for me to get started on writing. I can be slow to get

Don’t Be a Spotlight Ranger

Written on March 27, 2013 at 4:00 am, by

I have to admit that I watch a lot of reality TV.  I like Survivor, Amazing Race, Hell’s Kitchen, etc.  I love the human dynamics and the competition on the show.  One behavior that shows up again and again that continually comes back to bite a contestant in the butt is that of being a spotlight ranger. The term comes from Ranger School.  Ranger School is a leadership school. They teach and test leadership by having you run patrols in the forest, mountains, deserts and swamps.  During all this, they simulate the stress of combat through a lack of sleep and food.  It is exhausting and mentally taxing. The typical way Ranger School runs a patrol is that they give

Know Your Rules and Get ER Done

Written on March 20, 2013 at 4:00 am, by

You have to know what the rules are in your life.  Now, I am not talking about the little rules like coloring between the lines, covering your mouth when you cough.  I am talking about rules that you have for yourself when it comes down to it.  The rules that will make or break you. One of the courses I went through as part of Special Forces training was Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) school.  One of the blocks of instruction dealt with a prison camp or hostage scenario where you knew death was imminent.  Either they were coming down the row shooting people in the head or you knew you were the next to get your head cut
