How to Make More Money

How to make more money, how to get a better job, how to have more friends, how to have a better marriage, the list goes on and on.  These are the kinds of questions people send me as part of the website.  Everyone wants to know the answers to the same types of questions.

I will let you in on a secret, there aren’t any answers… there is really only one answer.

Help More People

The way to get everything everyone wants is one simple thing, you should help more people.  Now I know this sounds all “California Seminar” to you, but there are real reasons it works and other reasons I have quite figured out yet, but I just know it works.image1 How to Make More Money

There are a whole bunch of ways you can help other people. You can help your boss look better at work.  You can help your friends find jobs or start businesses that make them a lot of money.  You can find a cause your really believe in and devote your time to it.  You can connect people with opportunities and others that will make their life better.  You can teach or create something that will absolutely make their life amazing.

You see this is a lot of what I did in the Special Forces. Remember our motto was de oppresso liber (to free the oppressed).  We were to go out and teach others the skills they needed to find the freedom (and betterment) they deserved in their lives.  By doing that we made the world a better place and in turn made it better for ourselves and those that are important to us.

You might not know how to get started.  These days even as children we are taught only to look out for ourselves.  Unfortunately a lot of entertainment, reality shows are the worse teach that we can lie, cheat and steal to get ahead.

Here are some tips to  help others:

1.) Don’t do something with the idea of getting something in return.

2.) Find something to help instead of asking the self serving “how can I support you?”  Just find something someone needs and start doing it.

3.) Some people don’t want help and others don’t deserve it.  If you have a job and boss you can’t stand – get a new job where you can throw your support behind someone that you can stand to be around.

4.) You will find it is easier to help groups and causes, but it will mean a lot more to a single person or family.

5.) Money isn’t bad.  You should get paid for what you do to make a living.  Just do more to help others.  Help your friends and others make more money and they will be grateful and remember you.

Helping others hits a lot of psychological factors.  There is reciprocity and the idea that by helping you are always in the attention of those who might be able to help you. Once again, not to get all metaphysical, I think there is something to the idea of karma and banking up goodwill.

What do you think? Have you implemented something like this in your life?  Let me know in the comments.

I have. Hate to brag but since I was a kid I was the upright goody two shoes type that helped others even to my disadvantage. Without looking for anything in return. Nothing good came out of it.

But then as time went by and I continued on this path, there came a couple of instances where i was really in the pits… and lo and behold, on both counts, I found myself getting helped by most of the same people I’ve helped through the years.

It goes to say that what goes around indeed comes around, but I never thought it would come round this way and that big. Thankfully the new role I am in fits me like a glove, and I owe it to the individuals that extended their helping hand during my time of need.
