It’s the beginning of 2014 and it’s pretty likely that you have set some goals for yourself this year. Do you want to be able to predict your success for the goal?
Just divide the time for you to accomplish the goal by how far you are already into the year and see if you are making the necessary progress. Let’s say that you want to lose 30 pounds by the end of the year. If at the end of January you have lost at least 2.5 pounds (30/12 = 2.5), you are in good shape and have a great chance of achieving your goal. If not, then your chances are low of getting to that weight.
It works the same with most everything else. Want to earn a certain amount in a business, divide the time required and make small monthly or weekly goals to get there. Want a new job, set a certain amount of interviews as the target and then set weekly and monthly goals to get the required amount in order to make progress.
The problem most people have in making goals is that they don’t set targets from themselves. They have a picture in their mind of the end result but that doesn’t result in action.
It is like archery. You need to have a target to shoot at. If you don’t, it is blind archery and that doesn’t end well for anyone.
Dreaming is great and goal making is even better. The best of all is creating measurable targets and making sure you hit the mark and make progress.
