Let’s say you want to know something.  You have to ask the right type of question to get the answer you want.  Do you want strictly the facts?  Do you want someone’s opinion?  Do you want an answer that takes some thought?   You need to pay attention both to what type of question you are asking and what sort of answer you are providing when answering other people. Play the Whole Season and Get Er Done

  Those you that know me, know that I love baseball.  Even though my team the Mariners continually disappoint I love the strategy and explosive action of the game. I have written before that being on a Special Forces team is a lot like being on a professional baseball team.  All the guys had come up through the ranks or minors. One of the big problems society has these days is that we don’t understand economics. Now I am not talking about how the Federal Reserve distributes money or how the Euro and the dollar interact. What I am talking about is the fact that everything comes with a price that must be paid before you receive what you are looking for. Get Rid of the Rock in Your Rucksack and Get Er Done!

On a SF team, we had to carry a lot of stuff in our rucksacks.  We carried our own individual gear – enough clothing to keep us alive, a sleeping bag if it was cold enough, food, ammunition, medical kit.  On top of that we had to carry team gear too.  There were radios to divvy up, ammo for the machine gun, maybe explosives, GPS’, maybe a laser designator, and so on .
